New York is full of facts about both popular and little-known places in the city. Despite its huge population, New York City does not occupy much space. The East River (which is actually a strait) flows along the east sides of the Bronx and Manhattan. The five boroughs and New Jersey are linked by tunnels, bridges, and ferries.
